The proven reliability of Smyth F180 book sewing machine is the result of the experience gained by Smyth throughout its long history of manufacturing. Unique design features allow the F180 book sewing machine to process all types of signatures. Utilizing all the newest technology helps make the Smyth machines simple to use and operator friendly.
The maximum mechanical speed is 180 cycles/min. Fast set-ups and the exceptional versatility of the 4D feeder operations are just some of the features that make the F180 capable of fulfilling an unparalleled range of production requirements.
The mixed vacuum and pressure system facilitates the transfer of the signature from the saddle to the sewing head using a Venturi type heading up mechanism. This mechanism further ensures the proper transfer of all types of signatures to the sewing head.
A precise signature locking system that holds the signatures down on the saddle, assures the exact centering of the stitches on the spine and prevents signature rolling.
The LAP opening device - standard in the F180 book sewer - is ready to work when programmed, and does not require any installation. It provides the possibility to open overlapped signatures having different back to front size and different overlap size.
As all SMYTH automatic sewing machines series 4D, also the F180 book sewer is designed to be connected in line with a SMYTH gathering machine of the series "P12 ".
Thanks to the modular design of Smyth gathering and sewing lines mod. UNIT and CONCEPT, automatic book sewers series 4D can be purchased individually and then connected in line.
The sewer can be equipped with the GAUZE DEVICE (optional) to reinforce the book spine during the sewing operation. The gauze device applies the gauze material on the spine of the book block automatically, sewing it together with the book signatures.
Gathering sequence control is performed by OPTICAM which is located on the hopper of the book sewing machine feeder. The OPTICAM system guarantees a high level of control by filtering all possible problems. In addition, it accurately avoids false alarms and unnecessary stops through the continuous measurements performed on each individual signature as processed from the hopper of the feeder.
The PASTING DEVICE (optional) is expressly designed to obtain higher spine book solidity. It is composed of a pneumatic driven gun that applies a thin cold glue strip. It is controlled via touch screen for accurate glue application and simple operation. The glue system is easy to maintain as it is a self contained pot and does not require daily clean up of the glue tank.
The application of the glue strip is set to be applied on the second and on the last signature of the book but it can also be programmed for being applied on any combination of signatures or on each signature of the book.
